What type of permit is required to move a home?

A house moving permit is required for every move. National House Movers will be happy to assist in all aspects of the permitting process.

Is National House Movers licenses and insured?

Yes, we are fully licensed and insured.

What geographic area do you serve?

We currently move structures throughout SC, NC, and GA. However, we will consider moves in other states.  Please contact us for more details.

How far can a structure be moved?

National House Movers can technically be moved anywhere.  However,  the type of structure being relocated and the travel route must be evaluated.  There may be limitations depending on the structure that is being moved.  Buildings over one story high may require additional special handling to maneuver around utility wires, bridges, etc. 

Does a building have to be completely vacated before and while being moved?

 A building must be vacated of all people and pets.  The majority of our homes that are moved National House Movers staff member to make sure that all objects in the home can remain.   Furniture or appliances on wheels will be secured before a move. National House Movers will take all necessary steps to protect all personal belongings. 

What are some of the reasons people choose to raise their home?

 

  • To add a basement for more square footage
  • To fix an old foundation that is settling
  • To help prevent moisture problems caused by the house sitting to low to the ground.
  • Homes in flood zones are raised above the designated flood zone level.

Can a brick block or stone building be raised?

Yes.

What sort of damage can we expect from moving our home?

 Minor stress cracks may occur upon elevation but the degree of cracking depends upon the amount of settlement that has occurred in your old foundation.

Does National National House Movers build the new foundation?

 We do not do foundation work but we would be happy to assist you in finding an experienced foundation contractor 

Does National House Movers do the excavating under the raised home?

We typically do all excavation under raised homes.

What contractors will need to be involved in moving a structure to a new location?

At a minimum, you will need a plumber, HVAC technician, and a foundation contractor.  Your move may also require an electrician and a carpenter.
